Conference on Community Health Insurance in Africa

Hygeia Nigeria Limited, in conjunction with PharmAccess International, a Dutch NGO and with the donor support of the Dutch Health Insurance Fund has created the Hygeia Community Health Plan (HCHP). The Hygeia Community Health Plan will host a 2 day international conference on community health insurance in Africa. The theme for the conference is ‘Presenting an innovative approach in healthcare delivery’. The conference will offer perspectives on issues such as:

1. The historical development of community health insurance as part of the Nigerian health care delivery system
2. The role of the HMO in community health insurance implementation:
   • Creating demand through an enhancement of the supply and
   • Financing options for Community Insurance
