Board

Professor E.A. Elebute is the Chairman and Chief Executive of Hygeia. He holds the following qualification: MA, MD (Dublin), FRCS (Edin), FRCS (Eng), FWACS, FMCS (Nig). Professor Elebute has been involved in the Nigerian healthcare environment for over 40 years and was previously the provost of the College of Medicine of University of Lagos and the Chief Medical Director of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. He was past president of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria; Honorary Fellow, Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland. He has been awarded the CON (Commander of the Order of the Niger) by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Mrs. Fola Laoye is Group Managing Director Hygeia Nigeria Limited. She holds the following qualifications: BSc, ACA (ICAEW), ACA (ICAN), MBA (Harvard Business School). Mrs. Laoye trained as an Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand, UK and has led the Strategy, Operations & Finance functions for the last six years. She teaches (part time) Strategy at Lagos Business School.

Mr. Demola Odeyemi is currently a General Manager at GT Bank Plc. He obtained a first class honours B. Ed Social Studies from the University of Ife (1990) and M.A. (Stats, Tests & Measurement ) from the same university (1992). He is an Associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ACA), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACIT) and Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria (ACIS). Prior to his appointment at GT Bank, Mr. Odeyemi was a Technical Adviser to the Director General of Budget, Vice President - Platinum Bank and Chief Operating Officer, FCMB Capital Markets Group.

Mr. Tosin Runsewe is currently Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Assurance Limited. Prior to his appointment on March 1 2005, he worked in the parent company, Guaranty Trust Bank PLC for 9 years. Mr. Runsewe is an alumnus of the University of Ibadan having obtained a B.Sc. Honours degree in Agricultural Economics in 1989. He also holds an MBA from ESUT Business School. He is currently enrolled at the University of London, working towards a Masters degree in Financial Economics.

Management

Mr. Kola Awokoya, The Managing Director  has taken a leadership role in managing the HMO. His qualifications are as follows: B.Sc, ACA (ICAN). He joined Hygeia in 1989 and has held various positions in Accounts, Facilities Management, Business Development and Marketing. Since joining, he has been on a management development course at PriceWaterHouseCoopers  and attended the Advanced Management Program - AMP6 at Lagos Business School . He has also attended Health Insurance training/Impact seminars organised by Healthpartners Inc. (Minnesota), The World Bank Institute, Wharton and The London Business School.

Mrs. Njide Ndili is the Chief Operating Officer  covering Hygeia HMO's Management and Network Operations. Prior to Hyegia, she was Director, Project Management & Information Technology at CIGNA Healthcare,  Texas , USA  where she managed various projects across the regional offices and coordinated teams located in seven states. CIGNA is one of the largest HMOs operating across the United States .  Before joining CIGNA, she was one of the foundation staff of AmeriHealth Insurance Company of Texas .  She also worked as a Network Analyst at Independence Blue Cross Philadelphia and as an Information Systems Manager at International Computers (ICL) London . 

Njide has an MBA from the University of Houston , with a concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Finance.  She also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance and a B. Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Nigeria .

Dr. Bolaji Olayinka, GM Medical Services  has gained experience working in the Lagoon Hospitals and as a primary care physician in worksite clinics before joining Hygeia HMO. He was the Head of the Members' Services department and later Head of Abuja regional office. He holds the following qualifications: MB.CH.B, Masters in Public Health (MPH).

Dr. Bolaji is presently Certified as Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) by the American Healthcare Quality Board (HCQB)

Network Operations

Dr. Fehintola Asa, Head of Ibadan Office (West) has steadily built a career since joining Hygeia HMO in 1998. She has held various positions at the Lagoon Hospitals and various worksites clinics around Lagos . A holder of MBBS and a Masters degree in Public Health, she was the pioneer Primary Care Physician at the BAT Ibadan factory.

Dr. Harrison Okafor, Head of Provider Services, Lagos joined Hygeia HMO in 2005. He holds the (MB.ChB, 1995) from the Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile-Ife and a certificate in HMO Operations. He is currently preparing for certification in healthcare quality (CPHQ), awarded by the National Center for Quality Assurance, USA .

Dr. Orji, Nwije Enuma is Head, Port Harcourt Regional Office. She holds the MBBS degree of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. She joined Hygeia HMO in 2000 as primary care physician at Nigerian Bottling Company, Port Harcourt Work-site Clinic

Marketing Department

Mrs. Ope Oyawoye, Manager Marketing Department joined the organisation in March 2005. She had held various managerial positions in Sales and Marketing at CONAGRO Nigeria Limited, Law Union and Rock Insurance Company and Financial & Business Consortium. Prior to her joining Hygeia HMO, she was a Brand Marketing Analyst with Odu'a Telecoms, Ibadan . Mrs. Oyawoye holds a first degree in Zoology from Ondo State University .

Operations

Greg. O. Onwordi, heads the Operations Department. He holds the following qualifications: MIT (Master in Information Technology), University of Lagos; B.sc(Computer Science), University of Nigeria, Nsukka. An Associate of the Chartered Institute of Administration (ACIA), Certified Member of Computer Society of Nigeria(MCSN) and Nigeria Institute of Biomedical Engineering (MNIBE), external Facilitator to Center for Management Development since 2001.He has vast experience in the IT industry and is a Consultant to Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education IT affair. He was formerly, Head - Information Technology Department, Nigeria College of Administration.

Mrs Kemi Odusote, Snr. Manager Data Mgt. & Underwriting. She heads the Data Management & Underwriting department. She has worked in various departments of the organisation and currently oversees the Operations Unit and the Automation of Hygeia New Database. Prior to her joining the HMO, She has worked as a research officer in Planning Research and Statistics Department of the Ministry of Justice Akwa Ibom State. She has equally worked with Daysol Systems, a software/IT Training Firm as a System Analyst/Instructor. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics from the University of Ilorin. She has also attended the Senior Management Programme (SMP) at the Lagos Business School.

HIV/AIDS & Preventive Programmes

Dr. Femi Jegede, HIV/AIDS Co-ordinator for the HMO. He holds the following qualifications: MBBS, has post-graduate training in Public Health with special interest in epidemiology and is an Associate Fellow of the National Post-graduate College in Public Health. He joined Hygeia as a Primary Care Physician in 2000.

Dr. Oguguah D. Ejinkeonye is the HIV+AIDS and Preventive Care Manager. Prior to joining Hygeia in April 2007, he was the Program Manager for House of Refuge (a drug rehabilitation programme of Freedom Foundation Nigeria). He also has worked in various healthcare setting holding various managerial positions.

Quality Assurance Unit

Dr. Abayomi A. Sule (MBBS) is the Quality Assurance Manager. He is an alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State. He joined the company in June 2006 as a Care Coordinator in the Provider Services Unit and was later deployed to the QA Unit as the QA Manager.

Dr. Sule has a certificate in HMO operations and he is presently enrolled in a postgraduate diploma programme in Management.

Technical Advisers  

Dr. Kunle Onakoya is Medical Director of Lagoon Hospitals and a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon. He holds the following qualifications: MBBS, FWACS. He joined Lagoon Hospital as a medical officer in 1986. He then went for post-graduate training in orthopaedic surgery at the National Orthopaedic Hospital , Igbobi and at St. George's Hospital , London . He returned to Lagoon Hospital as a full-time consultant in 1996. He is the Medical Director/Executive Officer of Lagoon Hospital Apapa.
